The 2018 Nasher Prize Graduate Symposium offers master’s and doctoral students from any academic discipline the opportunity to present scholarly work on a host of questions and topics related to 2018 Nasher Prize Laureate Theaster Gates. This will be followed by a presentation from keynote speaker Matthew Jesse Jackson.

Organized by the Nasher Sculpture Center, this symposium offers students a chance to take the work of 2018 Nasher Prize Laureate Theaster Gates work as inspiration for their own scholarly and creative work. Student presentations and an accompanying publication will expand scholarship on the field of contemporary sculpture and its many forms. A keynote lecture by Matthew Jesse Jackson,  a writer, curator, and critic who teaches modern and contemporary art at the University of Chicago, will end the day's events.

Open to the public. FREE Admission with RSVP.
