Summer at the Nasher Kicks off with Free Admission to Nasher Cafe, New Free Wi-Fi & Special Summer Events

The Nasher Sculpture Center is pleased to welcome the return of Summer at the Nasher presented by Frost.  The summertime series, which takes place June 1 through September 1, 2010 at the Nasher Sculpture Center, earned a “top pick” for summer in the 2010 Southern Living Magazine’s “Best Of” issue.

Guests of Summer at the Nasher will enjoy free midday admission to the Nasher Café, Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 1 pm. The café overlooks the beautiful 1.4-acre Sculpture Garden, and offers a new summer menu featuring Wolfgang Puck’s Mushroom Swiss Vegetarian Burger, delicious Waldorf Salad with Turkey, and other daily specials utilizing the freshest produce of the season. 

The Nasher is also pleased to offer for the first time at the museum free Wi-Fi in the Cafe Terrace, and Garden, compliments of XO Communications.  Guests are welcome to stay connected while at lunch, and/or bring their laptops into the Garden to take advantage of inspiring surroundings of lush greenery and world-class sculpture.

Summer at the Nasher also features several programs, which cater to art lovers, families, and late-night crowds including Target First Saturdays, 360 Lecture Series, the NasherSALON, and the new monthly outdoor entertainment series, ‘til Midnight at the Nasher, presented by Reliant Energy.   Held in coordination with the Dallas Museum of Art’s Late Nights and the Crow Collection of Asian Arts’ Crow Collection After Dark, the series takes place the third Friday of every month from 6 pm to midnight with a live musical performance followed by a featured movie presentation. Upcoming doubleheaders include Emerald City and The Wizard of Oz on June 18, Petty Theft and To Catch a Thief on July 16, Cuvee and Dreamgirls on August 20, Havana NRG! And West Side Story on September 17, and Cary Pierce on October 15.  Guests can sign up on site for a chance to win $5,000 in free electricity compliments of Reliant.

The Nasher’s newest exhibition, Rachel Whiteread Drawings, will be on display in the Galleries through August 15 and available for viewing during special events. The exhibition marks the first museum retrospective of drawings by the contemporary British artist and features more than 125 drawings and collages selected from the artist’s studio, as well as from leading public and private collections in Europe and the United States.
